Rowlett Police Officers successfully apprehended two suspects involved in separate aggravated robberies in the business parking lot located in the 2500 block of Lakeview Parkway.
On the evening of November 7, 2023, around 8:55 PM, Rowlett Police officers responded to an alarming incident where a victim, while loading groceries into his truck, was confronted by a male brandishing a black pistol. The suspect demanded the victim's wallet, which was handed over without resistance.
Two days later, on November 9, 2023, at approximately 10:02 AM, officers responded to a second aggravated robbery at the same location. The second victim reported a similar modus operandi, with the suspect demanding his wallet while he was putting away groceries. Despite efforts, officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
Following a public appeal and the release of information, the Rowlett Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division identified the suspects as Patrick Taylor, a 17-year-old, and Dwayne Broadnax, a 21-year-old.
Patrick Taylor was taken into custody on November 13th, thanks to tips received from the public. A directive was issued for the apprehension of Dwayne Broadnax on charges of two counts of Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.
The breakthrough came on January 31, 2024, around 3:00 PM, when Broadnax was arrested in Las Vegas, NV.
The Rowlett Police Department expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of local, state, and federal authorities, ensuring the successful apprehension of Broadnax.
