Paris Police Officers responded to a report of a vehicle theft on Monday at 9:15 am in the 600 block of SE 13th. The stolen vehicle, parked in a driveway with keys left in the ignition, prompted officers to search for it. Information led them to 271 North, where they successfully located the vehicle. The suspect attempted to flee but abandoned the vehicle, escaping into a wooded area.
Subsequent efforts by the officers resulted in the apprehension of Dalton Joseph Douglas, 25. Douglas was arrested on charges of Evading Arrest in a vehicle, Unauthorized use of identifying information, Unauthorized Use of a car, along with two outstanding warrants. The warrants were related to a prior charge of Unauthorized use and another for Burglary of a Vehicle.
