On January 28, 2024, Harrison County Sheriff Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a residence on FM 1186 in Marshall. The call was made by a concerned neighbor who reported that her children had been shot at while playing in a field between the two houses. Upon arrival, deputies gathered statements from all parties involved.
It was determined that the alleged shooter was a 69-year-old woman. According to the investigation, the woman was unaware of the children being outside and had intended to shoot at dogs on her property. However, according to police, she discharged the firearm in a reckless and unsafe manner, endangering the area where several residences were located.
As a result of the incident, the woman was taken into custody by the Harrison County Sheriff Deputies. She was charged with Deadly Conduct discharge firearm and held on a $10,000 bond.
