On Saturday, January 27, 2024, Harrison County Deputies responded to a family disturbance at W. FM 968, Longview, Texas, involving a knife.
Dispatch alerted deputies to 35-year-old Corey Daniel Mayes, who was reportedly walking through the residence with a knife, yelling, and causing damage to the walls.
Upon arrival, deputies detained Mayes and, after speaking to the victim, determined that he had committed Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence. Mayes was arrested without incident and transported to the Harrison County Jail.
A juvenile present during the incident expressed gratitude, referring to the arresting Deputy as his hero for intervening and arresting Mayes for harming the victim.
