On January 27, 2024, around 10:45 pm, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted an operation at Stay Express Inn on East Tyler Street in Athens to serve an arrest warrant on George Perez.
Deputies, upon making contact with Perez in room 312, discovered a glass pipe containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The deputies secured the scene while Investigator Jonathan Daille worked to obtain a search warrant for the room.
A narcotics search warrant was subsequently issued by Judge Scott Mckee. During the execution of the search warrant, Ashley Stolte, present in the room, allegedly threw down a black case containing a clear Ziploc baggie with suspected methamphetamine and attempted to leave the scene.
Stolte was placed under arrest on charges of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, and evading arrest. Perez was arrested for his outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the matter.
