On Monday, January 22, 2024, at 8:18 pm, the Panola County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive person at a residence on County Road 311. In response, a Deputy, Investigator, UT Health EMS, and Intercommunity Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, units discovered a 19-year-old male inside a travel trailer on the property, showing no signs of life. Initial assessments revealed no evidence of foul play or trauma. Following protocol, the Precincts 1 and 4 Justice of the Peace were contacted for an inquest, and the victim's family was notified of the incident.
To determine the cause of death, the Justice of the Peace has ordered an autopsy. The Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences (SWIFS) in Dallas is conducting the autopsy, and the investigation is currently active pending the completion of the autopsy and toxicology report.
