On Saturday afternoon, Texarkana Police Officers responded to a distress call at Central Mall where a man was initially reported to be having a seizure. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the individual had actually suffered severe facial trauma from a vicious attack.
Investigations over the weekend revealed that the incident unfolded when an older female Central Mall employee confronted two unsupervised teenage boys playing in rented children's strollers. The boys responded with verbal abuse when told to cease their activities. Another employee, the eventual victim, intervened to support his colleague and asked the boys to leave.
Believing the situation had de-escalated, the victim returned to his duties. However, the aggressor returned with the two boys a few minutes later, confronting the victim. Without warning, the assailant punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall backward. Unconscious, the victim was further assaulted with multiple punches while on the floor. The assailant then left the scene with the boys.
The victim sustained serious injuries, including a concussion and several broken orbital bones. Initially transported to a local hospital, he was later transferred to a Little Rock hospital due to concerns about the severity of his injuries. Despite ongoing physical issues, the victim has been released and is now recovering at home.
Texarkana Police is seeking public assistance in identifying the attacker. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
