Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the victim, 43-year-old Noe Luna of Tyler, had already been transported to a Tyler hospital by a private citizen after sustaining a stab wound to the heart. Luna was pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday.
A news release from the sheriff's office revealed that witnesses recounted an altercation between Luna and 23-year-old Letierus Drew of Tyler. Allegedly, Drew forced his way into the home, leading to a physical confrontation with Luna. During the altercation, Drew reportedly produced a knife and stabbed Luna in the chest. Luna, according to witnesses, immediately collapsed and became unresponsive. He was then loaded into a truck and transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following the issuance of a warrant, Letierus Drew was arrested and charged with murder. He has been booked into the Smith County Jail, with bail set at $500,000. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
