Jury selection is set to begin on Monday morning in Franklin County for former National Hockey League (NHL) star Mike Ribeiro, who is facing sexual assault charges in Franklin County. The selection process will take place at the airport in Mount Vernon due to the high number of potential jurors receiving summonses for jury duty.
The 43-year-old defendant, known for his career spanning 17 seasons and over 1,000 games with five organizations, including the Dallas Stars, was indicted in April of 2022 for allegedly sexually assaulting two women. Ribeiro was arrested several weeks later and released on the same day after posting a $200,000 bond.
Opening statements for the trial are expected to take place on Tuesday at the Franklin County Courthouse, with the trial anticipated to last approximately two weeks. District Attorney Will Ramsay will lead the prosecution, while Hector Diaz of Arizona and Heath Hyde of Sulphur Springs will represent Mike Ribeiro.
