Paris Police Make Arrests for Check Forgery and Theft; Stolen Vehicle Recovered

Paris Police Officers responded to an incident on Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2024, at 4:30 in the 200 block of S. Collegiate. The Manager informed them that a suspect, identified as Ricky Lee Wilkerson, 59, was attempting to pass a forged check on the property. Wilkerson had presented a check from a local business for cashing, but upon verification with the business owner, it was confirmed to be forged. Wilkerson claimed he received the check for work from an unknown individual. Consequently, Police arrested Wilkerson for Forgery of a Financial Instrument.

In a separate incident on Thursday morning at 11:08, a victim in the 3900 block of Bonham St. reported losing his wallet in the parking lot. Despite returning to look for it after realizing the loss during a trip to Dallas, the victim discovered that someone had found the wallet and failed to return it. Video footage revealed a regular visitor to the property picking up the wallet and leaving in a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, with the possibility of identifying the individual.

The Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force successfully recovered a stolen vehicle on Thursday at 12:32 pm in the 4000 block of Old Bonham Rd. A city employee noticed the car with the engine running at 8:00 am and, upon returning to check on it, found that it was reported stolen from Oklahoma. The police had the vehicle towed, and the reporting agency was notified of the recovery.
