On Monday morning, law enforcement officers apprehended Blake Farley, who was wanted on two felony warrants for family violence. Acting on information that Farley was at a business on College Drive, officers arrived to find him fleeing out the back door, leaving behind his purchases.
Following a set of fresh footprints in the snow, officers tracked Farley through the neighborhood and eventually located him near W. 40th and Canadian Streets. Simultaneously, they discovered Farley's vehicle parked at another nearby business on College Drive, where a 7-year-old boy was found alone inside.
The young boy revealed that he was instructed to wait in the car while Farley went into the store, but he never returned. Authorities contacted the boy's mother, who explained that Farley, her boyfriend, was watching her son while she was at work. Farley had called her, instructing her to pick up her son at the store before abruptly hanging up.
In addition to the existing felony warrants, Farley now faces charges of Abandoning a Child without Intent to Return. He was taken into custody and booked into the Bi-State Jail, where his bond was set at $165,000. The child was safely reunited with his mother following the incident.
