Paris Police Officers responded to a disturbance report involving a suspect threatening a victim with a firearm. The victim, after transporting co-workers home, informed officers at the Lamar County Sheriff's office that 41-year-old Joseph Leslie Meadows had followed her, stopping her vehicle and pointing a rifle, threatening to shoot unless she got in his truck. The victim managed to escape, with Meadows in pursuit, eventually eluding him.
Officers escorted the victim home, where Meadows' vehicle was spotted in the driveway. Meadows was found in the backyard.
Upon contact, he admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle, leading to his arrest and a Possession of Marijuana charge. Despite denying possession of a weapon, a device for an air rifle was discovered in Meadows' vehicle. A .22 caliber air rifle matching the device was found on the victim's house, where Meadows had been located. Meadows now faces an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.
