Sunday night, January 14, 2024 at approximately 9:30 pm, Farmersville Fire responded to a structure fire. Seeking assistance, Farmersville Command called for mutual aid from Josephine Volunteer Fire District, Nevada Volunteer Fire Department, Princeton Fire Department in Texas, and Caddo Mills Fire Rescue. The dedicated crews tirelessly worked through the night, finally clearing the scene at 2:30 am on Monday.

The challenging weather conditions added an extra layer of difficulty to the firefighting efforts. Facing cold winds, freezing temperatures, lake effect snow/ice, and equipment freezing up, the crews demonstrated remarkable resilience. Despite the extreme weather, they continued their efforts until the fire was completely extinguished.

The community's support played a crucial role in keeping the spirits of the responders high. Farmersville citizen Tom M. went above and beyond by providing snacks, hot chocolate, and hot coffee to the hardworking crews. The gesture was warmly appreciated, offering a much-needed reprieve from the harsh weather conditions.
