Paris Police Arrest Suspect After High-Speed Chase Following Disturbance Call

Kentarius Demond Gaines

On Thursday at 5:07 pm, a Paris Police officer responded to a Disturbance Call in the 600 block of West Kaufman Street. The officer activated overhead lights and sirens to conduct an investigative stop on a vehicle. The vehicle, identified as a "Black Ford Crown Vic," was reportedly being driven by a male subject who was going up and down the street in front of a residence, allegedly flashing a firearm.

Upon the officer's attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply and instead accelerated at a high speed, evading detention. The pursuit eventually concluded when Kentarius Demond Gaines, 23, stopped and parked the "Crown Vic" in the 2600 block of West Houston Street. Gaines was taken into custody for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle.

Additionally, Gaines faces charges of Criminal Mischief for allegedly kicking and damaging a patrol unit during the incident. The investigation also includes potential charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, stemming from the reported flashing of a firearm during the initial disturbance.
