The McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking the whereabouts of Chance Cathey, a 33-year-old resident of Tom, Oklahoma. Cathey, described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 200 lbs., with light brown hair and green eyes, is a person of interest in an ongoing homicide investigation in the state of Arkansas. Authorities suspect he may be in the Tom, Oklahoma area or western Arkansas. He could also be hiding out in the Northeast Texas area.
On January 8, authorities disclosed the identity of the man discovered deceased at the bottom of a well in Little River County on January 2. The victim is identified as 66-year-old Bobby Conley, a resident of Tom, Oklahoma. His death is being treated as a homicide.
Little River County Sheriff Bobby Walraven is also seeking assistance in locating Chance Cathey, who is considered a person of interest in the investigation. Cathey is wanted on at least two tribal warrants in Oklahoma, including charges of possession of a firearm, aggravated assault, and battery. Sheriff Walraven received a tip on January 2 about a man's body in a well on Little River County Road 106. Detectives, responding to the information, pumped the well down and discovered what appeared to be a body at the bottom. The following day, county equipment excavators were used to retrieve the body of the deceased white male.
Sheriff Walraven mentioned that an abandoned vehicle was found in the area, and it is believed that Cathey has some knowledge about the vehicle. Arkansas State Police and the Drug Task Force are collaborating in the ongoing investigation.
