A routine traffic stop conducted by a Paris Police officer on Saturday night at 10:48 in the 400 block of NE 14th took an unexpected turn. The officer pulled over the driver, 23-year-old Christian Malik Jordan for defective equipment.
Upon exiting the vehicle, Jordan reportedly refused to comply with the officer's instructions to return to the car. Subsequently, law enforcement detained Jordan and conducted a warrant check, which revealed no outstanding warrants. However, Jordan consented to a search of his person.
During the search, officers discovered a .22 caliber firearm inside Jordan's jacket pocket. Further investigation revealed that Jordan had multiple felony convictions. Consequently, he was arrested on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
