On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, a Titus County Sheriff’s Office Deputy apprehended 41-year-old Crystal Perkins after observing her traveling southbound on North Jefferson Avenue. The Deputy, aware of an outstanding felony warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance against Perkins, initiated a traffic stop. Prior to the vehicle coming to a halt, Perkins and her passenger, later identified as 37-year-old Stephen Wisinger of Mount Pleasant, exhibited behavior raising suspicion of attempting to conceal contraband.
The vehicle eventually stopped in the 2000 block of North Jefferson Ave, leading to Perkins' arrest for the outstanding warrant. Wisinger was also asked to exit the vehicle due to observed excessive movement. Deputies sought assistance from an MPPD K-9 Unit, and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle, providing probable cause for a search. Subsequently, approximately 43 grams of suspected methamphetamines were discovered inside the vehicle.
Both Perkins and Wisinger were arrested, booked into the Titus County Jail, and charged with the 2nd Degree Felony Offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Perkins faced additional booking for the pre-existing arrest warrant.
