In a statement released on Tuesday, the Department of Justice announced that a federal judge has found Alex Harkrider, 36, of Carthage, guilty of multiple felonies related to his involvement in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Harkrider, along with his co-defendant and friend, Ryan Nichols of Longview, participated in the riot based on their belief that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent.
The court revealed that Harkrider and Nichols exchanged text messages in the days leading up to the event, coordinating and organizing their trip. During their journey, the duo transported two firearms in the specially designed box for Nichols' truck. Upon reaching the Capitol, they joined a large crowd of rioters gathered in front of the arched entrance to the Lower West Terrace doors, commonly known as the Tunnel.
