On January 1, 2024, at 11:27 p.m., Longview police officers responded to the 400 block of North Fredonia St following reports of an unknown problem. Upon arrival, officers were guided to the 200 block of North Second St near the railroad tracks, where witnesses reported a female lying on the tracks.
Officers discovered a deceased female at the scene, indicating that she had been struck by a moving train. The incident is currently under investigation by the Longview Police Department in collaboration with the Union Pacific Railroad Police Department.
