On Thursday, December 28, 2023, Panola County Sheriff's Deputies carried out two separate traffic stops resulting in the seizure of approximately 85 grams of suspected methamphetamine and the apprehension of two suspects.
At approximately 8:30 pm, Sergeant Gillie initiated a traffic stop in the Beckville area following the observation of a moving violation. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 28 grams of suspected methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested without incident and promptly transported to the Detention Center.
Shortly after 9:30 pm, Deputies Humphreys and Wilson conducted a traffic stop in the Carthage area due to defective equipment on the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered approximately 57 grams of suspected methamphetamine, as well as prescription pills and ecstasy tablets. The driver was arrested and transported to the Detention Center.
The seized narcotics, totaling 85 grams, will undergo analysis at the Texas Department of Public Safety crime lab. The investigation remains ongoing.
