In a late-night incident on Wednesday, Paris Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop for expired registration in the 2500 block of East Cherry Street at 11:43 pm. During the stop, they identified the passenger as Guillermo Santos Rodriguez, 42, who was found to have two Lamar County Felony Warrants.
The warrants were related to charges of Manufacture or Delivery of Controlled Substance PG 1 (less than a gram) and MTAG Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B (between one and four grams), both classified as F-3 felonies. Despite Rodriguez denying possession of contraband twice before entering the jail, a small bag of methamphetamine was discovered in his hoodie pocket.
As a result, Rodriguez now faces an additional charge of introducing a Prohibited Substance/Item to a Correctional Facility, classified as an F-3 felony.
