In the early hours of Wednesday morning, December 27th, at 4:30, a Paris police officer engaged in a foot chase after the driver and passenger of a vehicle decided to flee on foot. The pursuit began when the officer activated the patrol unit's overhead lights and sirens in the 2900 block of Lamar Avenue, aiming to prevent the suspects from traveling without lights.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle on NE 25th and attempted to escape on foot. Despite their efforts, the driver was soon apprehended after jumping a fence. It was later revealed that the vehicle he had been operating was stolen.
Identified as a juvenile, the driver faced multiple charges, including Felony Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Evading Arrest, Detention with a Vehicle, and Misdemeanor Evading Arrest. Additionally, the juvenile had outstanding warrants from the Paris Police Department for Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse and Burglary of a Vehicle.
Law enforcement officials transferred the apprehended juvenile to a Juvenile Detention Center to face the charges.
