The City of Glenn Heights is excited to offer residents in the Best Southwest region top-of-the-line lifesaving equipment when needed including heart monitors, state-of-the-art chest compression system and a Power Pro 2 medical cot.
“It is this ongoing opportunity to purchase high quality equipment for the City of Glenn Heights that therefore enables the city’s personnel to provide the best medical care,” said Glenn Heights Deputy Fire Chief Nicholas Williams.
Let’s break it down:
The Power-Pro 2 powered ambulance cot was recently released, and the City of Glenn Heights was able to purchase the new innovative cot to better serve residents. The ambulance cot reduces back injuries for Fire Department personnel, and it can lift up to a 700-pound patient with the push of a button. The way of the future, the cot also works alongside the department’s Power Pro Life System and allows the cot to drop down and catch the hooks with no risk.
The Lucas 3 Chest Compression System allows for the start of the patient’s chest compression immediately and is ongoing throughout the transport. A big improvement Glenn Heights Director of Public Safety Keith Moore explained, “What we have seen, even though we are highly trained medical personnel, is that when we manually do CPR over time you get worn out because once you start CPR you can’t stop it. Putting this machine on is assuring the patient is receiving the best care and it frees up the hands of our staff if there are other medical techniques needed.”
The city also has two Lifepak 15 monitor/defibrillators. Lifesaving for residents, this second device assures if the ambulance is already transporting another patient and EMS gets a second call staff can have a heart monitor for the second call too. The monitors are also lighter and transmit the patient’s data to the hospital while enroute thus allowing for faster patient care on hospital arrival. “The hospitals have the ability to livestream so they can see what is on our monitors,” Williams explained.
All these devices work in unison to allow for better care of the patient by the EMS personnel often able to save lives during the most critical time of transport.
“We appreciate the support of the City Council and City Manager for supporting our emergency personnel,” Moore concluded. “As the city continues to grow these lifesaving pieces of equipment allow us to take back-to-back calls when necessary and assure we are always ready to offer all resident the best medical services.
