The Wylie Police Department is actively investigating a fatal accident that occurred on December 20, 2023 at approximately 1:57 pm. The incident took place at the intersection of State Hwy 78 and Eubanks and involved two vehicles, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
Upon receiving the call, Wylie Police responded to the scene. The preliminary findings reveal that a silver Dodge Ram truck, towing a trailer, was traveling eastbound on State Hwy 78. Simultaneously, a silver Honda CRV heading westbound on State Hwy 78 attempted to make a southbound turn onto Eubanks.
The collision transpired when the Dodge Ram collided with the Honda CRV at the intersection. An 84-year-old female passenger in the Honda, identified as Jean Flynn and a resident of Wylie, lost her life as a result of the impact.
Wylie Fire and Rescue teams were on site to attend to the surviving occupants of both vehicles. The injured individuals were then transported to regional hospitals.
The Wylie Police Department's Accident Investigation Team is heading the investigation.
