Former East Texas Teacher Arrested For Improper Relationship with Student and Sexual Assault of a Child

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 28-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Ramon, a former teacher with the Joaquin Independent School District (ISD). Ramon turned herself in on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, and was subsequently booked into the Shelby County Jail.

The arrest follows an extensive investigation conducted by Shelby County Sheriff's Office Investigators. Ramon faces charges of Indecency with a Child (F-3), Sexual Assault of a Child (F-2), and Improper Relationship between Educator and Student (F-2). Her total bond has been set at $275,000.

Ramon, who resigned from her position with Joaquin ISD on December 5, 2023, was a subject of discussion during the Joaquin ISD Board of Trustees meeting held on December 18, 2023. The board voted to accept her resignation amidst the ongoing investigation.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has not released further details about the case at this time.
