On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 10:19 in the morning, Paris Police officers encountered Thomas Dale Wells walking in the 400 block of W. Kaufman. A routine warrant check revealed that Wells had an outstanding warrant.
When officers instructed Wells to stop, he refused, disregarding their orders and continuing until he reached a nearby trash can. At the trash can, Wells discarded two glass pipes commonly associated with narcotics use.
As a result of the incident, Thomas Dale Wells was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Tampering with Evidence.
Additionally, officers arrested Wells based on the outstanding warrant for the charge of Assault Causing Bodily Injury. This warrant stemmed from a previous incident on August 15th when Wells allegedly sprayed a motel owner with pepper spray during an eviction.
