On Friday, December 15, 2023, at approximately 8:30 pm, Rowlett Dispatch received multiple calls alerting them to a fire at Sapphire Bay, The View Apartments. Emergency crews responded to find a substantial blaze on the roof of a five-story apartment building currently under construction.
In response to the severity of the situation, a 2nd alarm was immediately issued, followed by a 3rd alarm later on. Assistance from neighboring Fire Departments was requested, and teams worked tirelessly through the night alongside Rowlett Fire Department to contain the fire.
At the time of the incident, the building was unoccupied, and as of the latest update on December 16th at 1:30 pm, the Rowlett Fire Department reported that the fire is mostly contained. Crews continue to address hot spots within the structure, utilizing drones to identify heat signatures and locate smoldering areas.
Emergency personnel will remain on the scene, and the public is urged to avoid the area.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
