Paris police officers responded to a Disturbance in Progress in the 600 block of Southeast 5th Street on Sunday evening at 6:37. While investigating the incident, officers stopped a vehicle leaving the disturbance scene.
Upon conducting a consensual search of the vehicle, officers discovered several disassembled firearm parts associated with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Further investigation revealed that the firearm's serial number matched one reported stolen in a burglary of a motor vehicle case filed with the Paris Police Department in October 2023.
The occupant of the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Devin Gill Harmon, claimed ownership of the firearm. However, given the stolen status of the weapon, Harmon was subsequently booked into the Paris Jail on charges of felony theft of a firearm.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
