Lindale Ranch Manager Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Cattle Theft

Jesus Sergio Perez-Sanchez

Jesus Sergio Perez-Sanchez, 69, of Lindale, was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to a charge of theft of cattle valued at less than $150,000. Perez-Sanchez, a ranch manager on FM 1253 in Lindale, was arrested on March 11, 2021, for allegedly selling a head of cattle in his name without the consent of the owners.

The owners, who also possessed the ranch where Perez-Sanchez was employed, reported the incident to a special ranger from the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. The ranger was able to locate a document indicating that Perez-Sanchez had sold a black cow for $1,195.85. The ranch owner stated that Perez-Sanchez did not have authorization to sell livestock from the ranch for personal gain.

Video footage from the ranch supported the allegations, showing Perez-Sanchez leaving the premises with the cow in question. Following his guilty plea, Perez-Sanchez received a six-year prison sentence for his involvement in the cattle theft.
