Lufkin Man Recovering in Tyler Hospital After Being Struck by Car

A Lufkin man, identified as Robert "Red" Green, 64, is currently undergoing recovery at a Tyler hospital after being struck by a car on Tuesday night. The incident took place around 8:50 p.m. in the 600 block of West Frank Avenue.

Green was airlifted to UT Health – Tyler following the collision. According to reports, he was walking in the roadway when he was hit by an eastbound Nissan Altima driven by Jesus Perez, 36, also from Lufkin.

Despite the severity of the accident, Perez emerged physically unscathed. Green, a well-known figure in the community, is anticipated to recover from his injuries, which include broken bones and a head injury. However, the process is expected to be lengthy. Green underwent surgery earlier this week and, as of Friday evening, remains in stable condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
