On Monday, December 4, 2023, two Chevrolet Corvettes were stolen at gunpoint near Highway 79 North in DeBerry, Texas, according to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office. Three men allegedly brandished a firearm, forcibly undressed a woman, and restrained her with zip ties before making off with the two vehicles.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Shreveport Police Department, collaborated to respond to the incident. After an investigation, a suspect was identified as 24-year-old Dasani D. Dawson, wanted for a similar case in Collin County. Dawson was apprehended in Shreveport on Thursday. Dawson is facing charges of aggravated robbery.
Panola County Sheriff Cutter Clinton revealed that a related search warrant executed in Shreveport uncovered a stolen vehicle, narcotics, multiple pistols, rifles, and the firearm used in the Panola County robbery. The ongoing investigation has led to the recovery of multiple stolen vehicles across East Texas, Dallas, Fort Worth, and in Louisiana. Authorities anticipate more arrests as they delve deeper into the case.
Officials in Panola County believe that this incident was targeted and not a random act.
