At approximately 8:40 pm on December 7, 2023, Mount Pleasant Police received an anonymous tip leading them to McReynolds Apartments in Daingerfield, TX, where a wanted individual, Skip Lafayette Springer, was reported to be present. Springer, 43, had outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, as reported in a previous incident to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
Upon locating Springer, officers faced resistance as he chose to barricade himself inside an apartment with an adult female victim. Recognizing the need for specialized assistance, Mount Pleasant SWAT was called in to handle the situation.
After a tense standoff lasting several hours, law enforcement successfully apprehended Springer at approximately 1:30 A.M. on December 8th. Fortunately, the adult female victim was safely freed, and no injuries were reported during the apprehension.
Following his arrest, Springer faces multiple charges, including outstanding warrants from Mount Pleasant, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Assault Family Violence. He is currently held in the Morris County Jail.
Springer's criminal history reveals a pattern of arrests related to terroristic threats against family members, as well as Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Kaufman, Rockwall, and Dallas Counties.
