Wood County Sheriff's Office Cracks Down on String of Thefts, Recovers $100,000 Worth of Stolen Property

In late November, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into a series of trailer and equipment thefts in the Hawkins/Pine Mills area. As of December 5th, investigators successfully identified and located several suspects linked to the thefts.

During the operation, authorities recovered three stolen vehicles, two stolen trailers, a stolen UTV (Utility Task Vehicle), as well as stolen firearms, miscellaneous power tools, and antiques. The recovered property is estimated to have a total value of approximately $100,000.

While the investigation is still ongoing, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office has refrained from releasing the names of the suspects at this time. However, pending charges are expected to include theft, burglary, and engaging in organized activity.
