Paris Police Officers responded to a vehicle accident in the 3000 block of NE Loop 286 on Monday afternoon at 3:47. Upon arrival, they discovered that a white van had rear-ended a vehicle, and the driver of the van fled the scene.
The victim followed the van to a medical center in the same block and observed two individuals, a white male and a white female, fleeing into the wooded area behind the facility. An officer located Joshua David Jones hiding in a creek and took him into custody. Upon returning to the scene, Jones was identified as one of the individuals fleeing.
Simultaneously, another officer located the white female, identified as Gena Elaine Bustin, 46, walking in the 2000 block of N. Collegiate roadway. Bustin admitted to being involved in the accident and fleeing on foot. Officers arrested her for walking on the wrong side of the street and took her into custody.
During a subsequent search, officers found a prescription medication not prescribed to Bustin in her personal property. She was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
