On November 23, 2023, the Wood County Sheriff's Office responded to a shots-fired call on County Road 4885. Sgt. Williams, Deputy Rich, and Deputy Cato were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered a male individual with a firearm to his head and his vehicle ablaze.
Following a prolonged standoff, the deputies successfully detained the individual, identified as 22-year-old Dmitri Jujuan Rape of Winnsboro. Mr. Rape was subsequently arrested on charges of aggravated assault, injury to a child, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Dmitri Jujuan Rape's bond amount has been set at $20,000. Notably, he has a history of prior arrests in Wood, Titus, and Rockwall Counties, primarily related to charges of drug possession, burglary of habitation, and burglary of a vehicle. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
