On December 2, 2023, the Longview Police Department successfully apprehended an Aggravated Robbery suspect following a coordinated effort with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
Authorities received information from Mt. Pleasant PD regarding a stolen vehicle, linking it to the suspect in question. Patrol Officers swiftly located the stolen vehicle and traced the suspect's whereabouts to a residence in the 4500 block of Cannon Street.
Despite repeated attempts to establish contact, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Lakederic Fletcher of Longview, refused to exit the residence. Given the alleged possession of weapons and the nature of offenses reported in Mt. Pleasant, the Longview Police Department deployed the SWAT team and Crisis Negotiators to the scene.
After a standoff, law enforcement successfully took Fletcher into custody without incident. He faces charges related to Aggravated Robbery and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, as well as Criminal Trespass of a Habitation in Longview, based on Titus County warrants.
