Smith is accused of a capital murder charge involving the shooting deaths of Dr. Blake G. Sinclair, 59, and Dr. Jack E. Burroughs, 75, both dentists from Tyler. Investigators say that Smith was angry over his dentures. The incident occurred on March 16, 2022, at Affordable Dentures & Implants in Tyler.
The Smith County District Attorney's Office officially filed a motion on Monday, notifying the 241st District Court of their intent to forgo seeking the death penalty in Smith's case.
