In a joint operation conducted by the Texarkana Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety, murder suspect Rodney Lindley was apprehended this morning at a residence following information received by the authorities.
Lindley was wanted in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Mercedes Young earlier this year. The incident unfolded on September 13th when police responded to a call at a residence in the 3800 block of Alexander around 5:00 pm. Upon arrival, officers discovered Ms. Young inside the home with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her injuries later that evening at the hospital.
Lindley, who fled the scene after the shooting, was identified as the prime suspect. Detectives secured a murder warrant against him the same night.
This morning's operation led to the successful arrest of Lindley, who is now in custody at the Bi-State Jail.
