On November 11, 2023, at around 9:30 p.m., the Palestine Police Department responded to reports of Shots Fired in the 2400 block of Crockett Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 28-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the neck.
The incident unfolded during an argument between the victim and the suspect inside a residence. A witness at the scene identified the alleged shooter as 21-year-old Jacob Serralde, who remained on the premises.
Following an investigation, Serralde was arrested and taken to the Anderson County Jail. He has been booked for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Family Violence, classified as a 1st Degree Felony.
"This appeared to have been a family dispute that escalated into an aggravated assault," stated PPD Chief Mark Harcrow. "I commend the officers for their quick response and apprehending the suspect safely."
As of the latest update, the victim is described as being in critical but stable condition.
