A family disturbance unfolded on Friday night, November 17, 2023, at 9:31 PM in the 1400 block of East Price Street, resulting in the arrest of 27-year-old Jaime Jimenez Reyes.
According to Paris Police, officers responded to a call reporting a domestic dispute. The victim, identified as the common-law wife of Reyes, stated that he arrived home heavily intoxicated, sparking an argument that quickly escalated. The altercation reportedly turned violent, with Reyes allegedly assaulting the victim by striking her in the head, arms, and chest. Unusual items used in the assault included a shoe and a large wooden child's toy.
Upon arriving at the scene, Paris Police Officers made contact with Reyes, who reportedly resisted arrest. After a struggle, officers were able to gain control and subsequently booked him into the Paris Jail.
Reyes faces charges of First-Degree Felony-Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Family Violence, and Resisting Arrest-Search or Transport. In response to the incident, the victim requested an Emergency Protective Order.
