On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office apprehended Christina Swoape, a 38-year-old resident of Alba, on charges of Money Laundering (greater than $300k) and Theft of Property (greater than $300k).
According to authorities, Swoape is accused of committing these offenses against a local business and her former employer, J&L Line Services. The company alleges that Swoape misappropriated funds from 2020 until September 2023.
J&L Line Services claims that Swoape was detected writing checks to herself from the company account and utilizing the company's debit and credit cards for personal expenses. These purported personal expenditures reportedly include multiple purchases on Amazon, the acquisition of a pool, vacations, and personal medical procedures. Additionally, J&L alleges that Swoape paid herself unauthorized vacation time, sick time, and paycheck advances that were not recorded.
Christina Swoape's bond was set at $15,000 per charge, and as of the time of this report, she has bonded out.
