The Longview Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11:44 p.m. on November 10, 2023, in the 900 block of Pine Tree Rd. Candice Gearhart, a 50-year-old resident of Longview, was driving north in the outer traffic lane and struck a pedestrian on a motorized scooter, also northbound. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and later died from injuries.
It was determined by officers that Gearhart was driving while intoxicated, and she was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter. She was transported to the Gregg County Jail during the early hours of November 11, 2023.
