Major Operation in Kaufman County Nets Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Property and Drugs

On February 23, 2024, law enforcement agencies conducted a targeted operation in Scurry, Texas, resulting in the arrest of three individuals engaged in illicit activities. The operation involved the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Unit, patrol deputies, investigators, along with Mesquite PD, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, Street Crime Unit, and Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.

The operation, part of an ongoing investigation into criminal activities in the area, led to the execution of a search warrant at the 8000 block of County Road 4074. 52-year-old Tammy Renee Epley was arrested on Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office warrants, 49-year-old Michael Todd Hudelson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and 60-year-old William Frederick Bell was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance.

During the operation, law enforcement recovered a significant amount of stolen property valued at $60,000, including vehicles, trailers, and snowmobiles, as well as 81 grams of methamphetamine.

Epley's bond was set at $10,000 and Bell's bond was set at $250,000.  

Although arrests were made and evidence seized, the investigation remains ongoing. The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is committed to thorough investigation and collaboration with other agencies involved to ensure justice is served and the community's safety and security are maintained.
