ROYSE CITY, Texas — A student at Ouida Baley Middle School was taken into custody Monday after allegedly making a verbal threat against the school, according to the Royse City Police Department.
Officials said police received the report on May 18, 2026, and immediately launched an investigation that included a threat assessment and a home visit.
Investigators determined the student did not have access to firearms and did not believe the student intended to carry out the threat, authorities said.
Despite that determination, police said the juvenile was detained and charged with Terroristic Threat.
The police department and school district stated that threats of violence against students, staff, or schools will not be tolerated and emphasized that campus safety remains a top priority.
With the school year nearing its end, officials urged parents to speak with their children about the serious consequences of making threats or posting comments involving school violence, noting such actions can result in criminal charges.
