Speeding Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Near Palestine Shopping Area

PALESTINE, Texas - A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon following a crash involving an SUV in Palestine.

On March 17, 2026, around 3 p.m., officers with the Palestine Police Department responded to Old Elkhart Road near Academy Sports in reference to a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle.

When officers arrived, they found the motorcycle driver unresponsive. Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene before the rider was transported to Palestine Regional ER, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the SUV, a 72-year-old man from Montalba, was treated at the scene and released.

According to preliminary information and witness statements, the SUV was traveling southbound on Old Elkhart Road and attempting to turn into the west entrance of the mall. At the same time, the motorcycle was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. The SUV turned left into the driveway, resulting in a collision with the motorcycle.

Authorities said the identities of those involved are being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The crash remains under investigation.
