KAUFMAN, Texas — Kaufman Police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after investigators say he intentionally drove his vehicle into a McDonald’s restaurant, injuring four people, including two minors.
On February 26, 2026, officers responded to the McDonald’s located on Washington Street following reports of a vehicle crashing into the building around 4:00 p.m.
Witnesses told police that 27-year-old Luis Angel Soto arrived at the restaurant appearing intoxicated. According to witnesses, Soto became upset after asking a female employee for her phone number and being rejected.
Police say Soto then entered his vehicle and backed into the restaurant, striking multiple people inside. Four individuals suffered significant injuries, and several victims were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment.
After the crash, Soto fled the scene in his vehicle. Responding officers located him and initiated a pursuit when he attempted to evade law enforcement. The pursuit ended when officers forced Soto to stop, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
