On Thursday night, November 20, 2025, at 8:50 p.m., the Longview Fire Department responded to a serious vehicle accident on Interstate 20, where a victim had fallen roughly 40 feet from an elevated section of the highway.
Special Operations teams quickly set up a high-angle rescue, rappelling down to the injured individual, providing emergency medical care on site, and establishing rope systems to safely hoist the victim back to the roadway. The person was then transferred to Christus EMS for further treatment.
A total of 13 personnel from Truck 3, Truck 5, Engine 5, Medic 3, Training 5, and Battalion 1 were involved and working as one team.
The operation was a testament to the department’s technical expertise, professionalism, and readiness to respond to complex, high-risk rescues.
