VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX – On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Van Zandt County Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of FM 47 and County Road 2703.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Nelson Busby. During the stop, Busby granted consent for officers to search the vehicle. The search led to the discovery of a crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine, along with a clear glass smoking pipe.
Busby was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Van Zandt County Jail. He was booked on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B in an amount equal to or greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams.
He was released to jail staffing following booking.
