Paris Police are seeking warrants for the arrest of a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident and the theft of several hundred dollars’ worth of lawn equipment from Walmart on Monday, June 16.
Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue after a victim reported that a vehicle had backed into his car and then fled the scene. The suspect had just stolen merchandise from inside Walmart and was attempting to escape.
Police obtained Walmart’s surveillance video, which provided the license plate number of the suspect's vehicle. This led them to an address in Oklahoma, where they contacted the vehicle's owner. Through this process, authorities identified the suspect, who also had a prior conviction for robbery and had been involved in a previous theft at a Walmart location.
Warrants will be issued for the suspect's arrest, charging him with Felony Theft and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
