The Commerce Police Department has announced the arrest of the second suspect wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on or about March 15, 2025, in the 800 block of Culver Street.
Following the shooting, Commerce Police obtained arrest warrants for Jaxyson Grant and Avean Jones. Grant was apprehended in Greenville shortly after the warrants were issued.
The investigation revealed that Avean Jones had fled the area immediately after the shooting. The Commerce Police Department continued their search for Jones, enlisting the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service.
On May 12, 2025, Avean Dejuan Jones was located and taken into custody in the Metroplex area.
The Commerce Police Department expressed their gratitude to all law enforcement officers involved in the search and apprehension of Jones, highlighting their hard work and collaboration as instrumental in his capture.
